Committed to Action: Gunnebo Entrance Control’s Steps on a Pathway to a Sustainable Future
Leading global manufacturer of entrance control systems, Gunnebo Entrance Control, has released the second edition of Committed to Action, an overview of its plan and activity towards being a sustainable business.
In airports, at train stations, on the metro, at shops, in sports stadiums, manufacturing and production, data centres, military facilities and more; millions of people are in contact with Gunnebo Entrance Control (GEC) products every day. With four manufacturing and assembly facilities, as well as sales offices and partners in every continent, Gunnebo Entrance Control has a reach that sees over 130 million users travel daily through more than 100,000 of its gates worldwide.
In the second edition of ‘Committed to Action’, now available on the company’s website, Gunnebo Entrance Control presents how it can shape the future of people flow management, while also striving to be a leading ethical business aiming for net zero emissions by 2045. Setting out GEC’s sustainability philosophy, cornerstone targets and the progress it has made towards them, Committed to Action focuses on the company’s actions along the way to achieving its aim.
Global Sustainability Officer Kelsey Parsons explains: “Becoming a sustainable business involves acting on many fronts. No matter how small, these actions contribute positively to us being a more ethical business that empowers its people, and which is taking the necessary steps to decarbonise its operations. Committed to Action documents our steps and zooms in on the progress we’ve made through this approach.”
Committed to Action covers progress under each of GEC’s action pillars. Our Business includes details of the measures taken to ensure that GEC operates responsibility in business. It covers the adoption of SBTi near-term targets, risk planning, optimising the supply chain, and partnerships with The Anti-Greenwash Charter, World Land Trust, SteelZero and US Green Building Council. Our People examine how GEC’s global workforce is supported and acknowledged for its diversity and how the business empowers its employees to achieve remarkable outcomes.
In Our Impact, the perspective shifts to the company’s mission to decarbonise operations through targets in emission reductions, a transition to sustainable fleet, the Sustainable Design Framework and waste diversion. Committed to Action explores how measures taken across the business have seen 97.9% of waste at its Lavis plant diverted from landfill, 21% of its fleet converted to electric or hybrid, and solar panels at its Zlin plant, home of Cominfo, producing 77,957kWh of renewable energy between 2023 and 2024.
“Since we published the first edition of Committed to Action, we’ve taken positive steps in becoming a more sustainable business. Introducing third-party verified EPDs that help specifiers make better decisions and establishing a Sustainable Design Framework for future product development. We’ve also partnered with the World Land Trust in preserving 29.5 acres of important biodiverse habitats1 and changed packaging to improve recyclability. While we still have a way to go and improvements need to be made, this new edition of our insight into sustainability at GEC shows the progress has been considerable and demonstrates that little actions lead to big changes throughout our business and making Gunnebo Entrance Control a more sustainable business.”
