In 2015, member states of The United Nations made a commitment to work to deliver peace and prosperity for all.

This promise was presented in the form of Sustainability Development Goals (SDG). A collection of seventeen global goals, these are a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.

The goals aim to tackle a range of social and environmental issues including climate change, inequality and poverty. Although wide-ranging, these goals are also interconnected and by addressing them as one the aim is to provide a way to take positive action for the planet and its people.

During ESDG Week in September, we invited AlterContacts to come and talk about how Gunnebo Entrance Control can align with the SDGs to take action for a more sustainable future.

AlterContacts is a think tank for sustainable development and in Special Consultative Status with the UN’s Economic and Social Council. The founders, Julia Skupchenko and Massimo Mercuri joined us for an insightful masterclass on how we can contribute to the aims of SDG and work collaboratively to take action for the planet, people and prosperity.

During the session, Julia and Massimo also took the time to discuss a number of other topics. These include best practice principles for a circular economy, recovery and take back schemes, designing-in sustainability and smarter sourcing, making this masterclass entertaining and essential viewing.
