Background

A business built on keeping people safe, SafetyCulture have incorporated additional safety into their Sydney Headquarters through entrance control solutions.

SafetyCulture is a global technology company that helps frontline teams find a better way of working. Its mobile-first workplace operations platform gives teams the knowledge, tools and confidence they need to meet higher standards, work safely and improve every day. 

Home to SafetyCulture is an impressive nine-story building in Sydney, Australia. The head office boasts an environment created to help staff maintain a healthy work/life balance, with office spaces and meeting rooms, commercial kitchen plus cafeteria, gym, and leisure zones.

SafetyCulture opened the office in 2022 soon after the COVID pandemic, when employee commuting was low and remote working the dominant approach to office duties. However, staff visitor levels have steadily increased to utilise the space provided by the company. With a team of 800 employees and growing, SafetyCulture realised the increasingly urgent need to secure their head office.

Challenge

When SafetyCulture opened their new head office, the reception area had no physical barriers in place. This meant the general public could enter the building and simply walk around any of the business areas. This presented a major security issue, with information, assets and people all vulnerable to physical interference from a third party.

SafetyCulture realised the company had to deliver a safer, more secure environment for staff, office and intellectual property. To deliver this, the Sydney office required a solution that seamlessly integrated into the building foyer. It needed to be visually aesthetic and complement the existing design envionment. The control had to be easy to use and not be overly intrusive for guests or impact the visitor experience. It also had to act as a secure checkpoint for anyone wishing to access the building interior guests to be verified before entering the facility.

Solution

Installed at SafetyCulture’s Sydney office are two SpeedStile FLs BA entrance gates with 1200mm high glass and one GlasStile Swing Gate. The SpeedStile FLs is a fast and efficient entrance gate which allows up to 40 people to pass through per minute. This highly customizable SpeedStile is available in various lengths, widths and colours; and can have features such as LED lighting added to enhance the already stand-out visual appearance.

Also on the gates is access control hardware, Kisi. Kisi allows users to download a mobile app which then communicates with the access control hardware integrated with the SpeedStile. Users can badge with their phone or simply wave their hand over the reader – so long as their mobile device is within range, in a location such as a pocket – to gain access, with the gate authorizing and opening within 0.3 seconds.

Results

Since installing the SpeedStiles, SafetyCulture has been able to streamline its entrance processes and ensure all visitors are entering the facility correctly. The gates have not impeded on people flow and successfully allow ingress and egress during busy periods of day; such as the morning, lunch time and evening.

Overall, SafetyCulture is extremely happy with their installation of the Gunnebo entrance control gates integrated with Kisi access control. The foyer is now secured from unathorised visitors without affecting the flow of people or the foyer’s operation.
